How do the recycling subscription packages work?

Purchase a TerraCycle Home subscription. You will be able to choose how often you want a pickup. Upon subscribing, we will send you a collection bin and Zero Waste Bags. We accept 24 waste streams for recycling, and all bags are clearly marked with the different materials we collect. Simply mark the checkbox for the type of waste you want to recycle, fill the Zero Waste Bag with the accepted waste, and then schedule a pickup.

How do I sign up?

Click on the “Get started” button in the menu or on any page. This will take you through our signup process for TerraCycle Home services. Select your subscription package and start recycling with us.

When can I expect my recycling supplies after placing an order?

New subscription orders include a collection bin and a supply of Zero Waste Bags that will be delivered to you within seven business days of your order. (Shipping times may vary based on your location.) Individual Zero Waste Bag orders are shipped within 1 to 2 business days of your order.

How many Zero Waste Bags can I use each month?

Each subscription comes with a set amount of bags depending on the subscription. There is no limit on the amount of bags you can have collected each month. If you use up your inventory of bags before your subscription renews, you can purchase additional Zero Waste Bags at any time through our website.

Scheduling a pickup

How often do you pick up?

We offer different pickup frequencies depending on the subscription package you choose. You can purchase additional pickups on the website as needed. We allow you to schedule your pickup when it's convenient for you. 

How do I schedule a pickup?

To schedule a pickup, you can either scan the QR code on the collection bin or log in to your TerraCycle Home account. All pickups require scheduling.

What time will my pickup be?

Please place your Zero Waste Bags in your collection bin the night before your scheduled pickup. Drivers may arrive as early as 6:00 a.m. 

What if I miss my pickup?

Is there a maximum number of Zero Waste Bags I can have picked up at once?

We will pick up as many Zero Waste Bags as you have ready. When you schedule your pickup, you will be asked to fill in the number of Zero Waste Bags being collected.

How full can my Zero Waste Bag be?

All items must fit in the provided Zero Waste Bag, and it must be closable. We do not collect loose items or open Zero Waste Bags. If you need more bags, you can order them anytime.

What if my Zero Waste Bag is damaged?

Please contact us, and we will coordinate with our drivers to ensure we can pick up your order on your scheduled date. Reach out to us at contact@terracyclehome.com.

If I run out of Zero Waste Bags, can I just use other bags I have in the house?

No—you will need to purchase additional Zero Waste Bags. TerraCycle Home drivers do not carry extra Zero Waste Bags. 

What happens to the items after you pick them up?

TerraCycle Home guarantees that we recycle all compliant materials that are collected. The items are received by our material recovery partners, where they are sorted into individual material components. Each material is then recycled into a raw format that can be used to make new products.

Do you have a list of all the waste you recycle?

You can review all 24 waste streams that we accept here. Click on each stream to learn details about the accepted waste types, recycling processes, and final products created with the processed waste.

Is there anything you don't accept?

We do not accept any trash or waste stream that is not included in the 24 accepted waste streams printed on the Zero Waste Bags. If you are unsure or have a specific question, please contact us at contact@terracyclehome.com.

Can I put the same things in small and large Zero Waste Bags?

Different waste streams are accepted by small and large Zero Waste Bags. Please only put accepted items (listed on the bag) in each Zero Waste Bag.

Can I put trash from more than one waste stream in one Zero Waste Bag?

Please only put trash from one specific waste stream in each Zero Waste Bag. Mark the checkbox for that waste stream on the bag to indicate what’s inside.

Do I have to clean the waste before I put it in the Zero Waste Bag?

You do not need to clean the waste before putting it in the Zero Waste Bag, but please remove as much of the remaining product as possible.

Billing and cancelation

When do I get billed?

You are billed at the time of subscription. Billing will automatically renew at the end of your subscription period (3-month, 6-month, and 12-month). 

If I cancel, how do I return my supplies?

Once your cancellation is confirmed, we will notify you and make arrangements to pick up your supplies.

I need to change my form of payment. How do I do that?

Simply log in to your account, select "My subscriptions" from the top menu, click on an active subscription and click on the "Request update link in email" button.

We will send you an email containing the URL where you can securely change your payment method.

Will you pick up my Zero Waste Boxes?

No—please follow the mail-back instructions on your Zero Waste Box.

I have a business, school, church, etc., and would like to participate. Can I?

We are currently only serving residential customers. However, we would like to hear from you about your organization. Please contact us at contact@terracyclehome.com, and we will see what we can do to assist you with your recycling needs.

I live in an apartment building. Do you service apartments as well?

Yes—as long as your collection bin can be placed outside or in a ground floor common area that our drivers can easily access. For more detailed information, please contact us at contact@terracyclehome.com.

How can I change my pickup schedule?

1. From your account, visit My Subscriptions. From here, you can click EDIT to change your TerraCycle Home plan.

2. To edit your pickup schedule, click the pencil icon next to SCHEDULE.

3. You can now choose between a monthly pickup and a twice-monthly pickup. Click SELECT PRODUCT to make a selection.

How can I change my subscription?

1. From your account, visit My Subscriptions. From here, you can click EDIT to change your TerraCycle Home plan.

2. To edit your subscription, click the pencil icon next to the plan listed under Product.

3. You can now choose between a 3, 6, or 12-month subscription. Choose your preferred subscription, then click CHANGE SUBSCRIPTION.
